(Maybe thats the reason why only few people play D3: the Bots are too Cute)

If you find d3 bots too cute try playing singleplayer levels in Pyromania as Insane . . . .

Just compare D3 with D1... The red hulk is even more dangerous as it looks and do you remember the scary noise of the vauss bot? The bots' sounds in D3 do not seem that alarming to me and the bots are mostly bright coloured ... Additionally, the rooms in D1 are much more narrow than in D3 - this pushes adrenaline and you often do not see what's waiting for you around the corners. These are things that do not change if I play insane 
I just remember scenes where you go into a room where suddenly six secret doors open with bots that want to kill you... That's what I like D1 for
