Hi,
Weiß wer von euch hier ob es für ne GeForce2Mx400 nen Glide Emulator gibt ? Oder verwendet vielleicht sogar wer einen ?
Ich würd nämlich auch gern mal Descent1 und 2 mit einer halbwegs guten Grafik spielen und nur deswegen will ich mir auch nich gleich ne Voodoo kaufen.

Ich würde mal D1X oder D2X ausprobieren, da sieht die Grafik schon ziemlich ordentlich aus (mipmapping, bilinear filter etc.) auch darf man endlich mal die Auflösung hochschrauben.

Was da allerdings noch nicht funktioniert ist der IPX-Netzwerkcode und nen Teil der Joystickkonfiguration (also quasi das wichtigste). Aber für Singleplayer reicht das ja.

also Glidos krieg ich bei mir auch nicht zum laufen. Ich kann D2 zwar starten aber wenn ich spielen will seh ich
a) dieses bescheuerte Glidos-Logo auf einem Bildschirm rumschwirren und
b) irgendwie nur den Cube in dem ich mich gerade befinde. Ich kann zwar durch das Level fliegen aber es sieht so aus als ob man überall aus dem Level hinausschauen könnte, man sieht also alles total verzerrt.

und das einzige was D2X bei mir bewirkt ist, dass der Joystick nicht geht. Grafisch seh ich da eigentlich keinen Unterschied.

und D1X sieht sicherlich viel besser aus als das normale D1 aber wirklich das Wahre isses immer noch nicht.

War bei Checki und mir genau das Gleiche, auch unabhängig vom Betriebssystem! Also wenns doch einer zum Laufen bringen sollte, kann ers ja hier bekanntgeben!

wie man die auflösung bei d1 hochschraubt, hab ich doch auf der lan schon vorgeführt, bluemoon hat das dann auch getan.
startet d1 einfach mit dem parameter -640x480.
ob das bei d2 funktioniert, was anzunehmen ist, weiß ich nicht mehr und hab ich auch nicht mehr getestet.

Man kann in D2 auch den Parameter -superhires verwenden, dann kann man die Auflösung im Spiel auf bis auf, ich glaub, 1280x1024 hochschrauben.
Aber das is nich mein Problem, ich hätt gern diese geile 3dfx Grafik.

versuchts doch mal mit den gängigen glidewrappern aus der emu-scene, einige davon laufen ganz gut (z.b. für ultrahle)

hier mal ne addi:

gl2ideal hab ich schon getestet, mit uhle läufts, aber leider nicht mit d2_3dfx (ich nehme mal an wegen dos und directhardwareaccess)

die anderen habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert, vieleicht läuft da ja der eine oder andere..
(wenig hoffnung)

D2 kann ich damit gar nicht erst starten und D1 kann ich zwar damit spielen, bloß bleibt der Bildschirm schwarz.
Natürlich is das für so einen spitze Spieler wie mich kein Problem

also mit Clide, GL2Ideal und OpenGlide hats auch nich geklappt. Es is immer dasselbe, ich start D2_3df, Diese ganzen DOS befehle kommen, und dann, wo eigentlich der grüne Text kommen sollte, ein schwarzes Fenster und das wars

hab jetzt mal alle d2-3dfx-varianten mit allen verfügbaren wrappern ausprobiert, ergebnis negativ. da aber andere 3dfx-progies mit den wrappern laufen muß man wohl davon ausgehen das glide von d2 gar nicht benutzt wird, da wird wohl die hardware direkt angesprochen. (also muß ein voodookarten-emu her

I'm the author of Glidos. I've heard that people have been trying to run Descent II with it, but not succeeding. I'm here trying to help, but I don't speak any German (sorry).

Its very difficult for me to use this forum. I can't read the buttons to do things like reply etc., so I'm guessing a lot. I think this is the second message I've posted, but I've lost the first, and I don't know if anyone has replied.

look for the bunch of links at the upper right corner. the one that says "neue beiträge" shows u a list of new messages since u were last here.
u also can use [url]http://dict.leo.org[/url] to translate single words or phrases english-german, both ways.
note: u will see the difference to babelfish Winken

does your soft work with d2? i have tested several wrappers without luck, i think d2-3dfx is just a dos-proggie using old dos-glide.

Yes Glidos works with D2, but its difficult to set up. Apparently several people here have tried it but not made it work. I'm lurking here in the hope of helping someone.

The current version v1.13 doesn't run very well under Windows 2000 and XP, but I have just solved the problem, and I now have it running very smooth. v1.14 will be out soon.

Ah, most people get it working on the 1270th attempt.

There is quite a detailed description of how to install it at http://www.glidos.net/descent.html I know that those instructions aren't good enough because so many people have trouble, but I don't know exactly what is missing from them. I was hoping that maybe there would be some questions I could answer. If someone has tried those instructions, it would be interesting to know what went wrong.

v1.14 has slightly better error reporting, which might help, but I wont be releasing that for about a week.
