|
|
I was thinking recently about a trip to Germany that I hope to take. Either to visit or to study, whichever way it goes. I was thinking while I'm their I'd try to use what German I can. I've heard from a couple in the Descent community who say that for the most part German peoples don't mind Americans, and there is probably pockets of people (like in any country) who despise us.
If I can get a chance I'd want to visit a Wise Guys concert. I've been listening to them for years and if I'm in country I'd want to take the chance to experence a concert. To help show the performers that I'm an American visiting, and a fan, I was thinking about getting a patch or something for a shirt sleeve, etc. But this brought to mind the possibility that I may encounter hostile behavior with something like that declaring that I'm an American.
If I plan a trip to Germany for a few weeks visiting wherever I can visit, are there certain places that a shirt sleeve patch of an American flag would be a bad idea? I'm sure that different regions of Germany are different than others, so do any of you folks have recommendations as to places that I should pretend to be Canadian or something like this? Or places that I should make sure that I don't have an American accent when I speak German?
Any information would be helpful!

Don't have panic jake! I dont know who told this bullshit, but germans are no "Americanhaters".
The opposit may be, becaus many of our parents lernt americans as the emancipators. They brought bananas, oranges, chocolate and chewing gum
So, -no panic!
If there is any american which noone needs, his name was bush or so...

Thanks for the support! I did not think the whole country is this way, but I know that in every country there are groups that do not think with their whole brain...
