I have an idea to fix the broken download urls on some levels, without requireing serverops to add them to the levels they are hosting... Could some urls be added to Vortex? Ie, if all links are broken, or not existing, Vortex then searches known repository urls for the file.

For example, if I wanted to play Derlict Stadium, the url is broken in vortex autodownload. However you can get it from Planet Descent, the link is http://www.dfiles.de/download/d3/missions/DerelictStadium.zip
So hard coded in Vortex would be: 'http://www.dfiles.de/download/d3/missions/' then the file name, DerelictStadium.zip would get appended and if it is a valid url, it gets downloaded, if it is not there, then no loss, perhaps try another large repository. In this manner any mission that is availible at 'http://www.dfiles.de/download/d3/missions/' could be found.

it should not be necessarily hard coded, but a (html?) list with mission names and urls. simple to edit with notepad etc.

This has already been discussed.

But this is a new feature and will be implemented after the bugs are out.

BUT it WILL be implemented.

An update file will be utilized for this. This one will be retrieved from a website, similar to the MOD-download update file.

Hopefully Skorp will have more free time soon to continue working on Vortex...

The external file is a great idea, Floyd, then anyone could add there own site and others. And sites come and go so often...
