Definition Abschirmung:
T-Online schirmt die verbindung ab, wenn man mit DSL genau auf der 5km - Grenze wohnt, volle Bandbreite kriegt, aber oft Desync.

Eine Abschirmung ist daher nix anderes, als ein Versuch, die Leitung frei von Störsignalen zu halten.
Dafür werden mehr Korrekturbits genutzt, was zu etwas kleineren Paketen und damit zu (etwas) größeren Pings führt - für eine größere Verfügbarkeit der Leitung und etwas weniger Paketverlust.

Daher kann man sagen, dass die Abschirmung genau das Gegnteil zu Fast Path ist.
