sorry atan, had the main mine-oof finished, i even did the uv-mapping and the texture-templates, just painting was missing and then i realized the real smartmine looks complete different hehe.

this oof would be ok, needs the 'normal' powerup too (the one you will pick up)
I believe it was not the 100% looking D2-Smartmine Dwndr asked for, he wanted the behavior, so it's good if we use your new oof.
Should we go ahead with this one, Dwndr?

now remapp and repaint on the active mine and the homing blob. cant wait to play with smartmine, have never seen it in mp-action

if we got all puzzles together later,
it needs some more time to do the AI then.
If this will be succsessful (I hope so), the mine must be tested and finetuned. So don't hope to see it in real action soon
I'll start programming the AI when I'm receiving the 'hardeware' asap.

ok this is to test the models, textures, lighning chunks, sounds, sparkles, halo colors, blob-colors lighning and sparkling and so on. was so bad to put it in a bi3 testlevel
its replacing the smartmissile here, does not have atans ai in and does not behave like a mine right now, just to test optics and sounds.
in the gam there are ship entrys in, they are just for the gunpoint sounds, since it replaces a missile you can change drop sounds only in the ship-entry.

some things to ask:
Anybody knows that the AI.dll will work for Win only?
At least until I could sucessfully install and configure Linux
and could compile with gcc compiler too.
But this point will first come up
when I could do the MS dll
What I need for this are some information:
What exactly should this mine do now ?
Is it ok if it's replace the mine?
Smart missle replacement was an experiment only I hope.

well the golden smartmine should do what a smartmine did in d2
after release sitting there with a timeout value. blowing up and doing damage if a ship comes near, blow up on weapon impact and spawn the homing blobs.
dwn came up with a good idea, how about replacing the gunboy with it?
about the ai for win. hmm i think [rip]blue has once made a mod for mac, so he probably can compile for other systems.

not long ago, I asked a lot ppl for MAC compiling,
all I got, was the information that there was one guy only who owned the MAC SDK. He never replied to any of my mails if he could compile my cpp to mac dll's. Maybe Kevin owns this SDK now.
But that is not the only problem, I contacted shiva to show me how to configure the Linux compiler, as far as we could see, I did all correct, but it never compiled a working linux dll. The only thing we found out, that he worked with an older gcc version, a version I can't dl anywhere, it's gone.
This is a thing I must discuss with Kevin too.
But this is future, first we need the working Win AI
Give me some time...

I put the city level aside for a bit to work on an even better design! Hopefully this weekend or next week I can show a quick beta.

Hm..I took a closer look at the smartmine and found two things that could/should be changed?!
First: this mine is realy awesome
Two ideas:
-why not making this mine destrucable as the proxmine? At the moment the only way the goldmine detonates is: flying agains it or waiting some time....
Why not making it shootable?
-this small icon that appears (on MY configuration) when you select the goldmine could be a bit better. At the moment it doen't really look like the goldmine that can be collected in a level.

that was just a demonstration to show the grafics and how the mine could work diti.
atan is working on a mine-ai. the original d3 mines are all robots so you cant make a mine but just edit some gam-values. i made the small hud-picture only for fun, the real mines are shown only as text cause they are no primary or secondary weapons.

If i remember right in pyromania there is a missile that you can "LAY" like a smart mine like behind a door and when the opponent opens it it homes in on the enemy.

That "advanced missile" is crap.
It doesn't create a lock-sound, and it is too fast to be seen.
