Hi
I now have D1, D2 and D3 and enjoying them all.
I see on the internet what appears to be added misions for one or more of these. Am I correct and are there any that I can download without damaging my present setup? I want to get all I can out of my Descent games and this seems the way to do it.
Your advise greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Brad

Brad,

there are thousands of missions. But to be honest it wouldn't make much sense to just download these and extract them all.

As long as there is no specific need I'd leave it like it is.

A good idea might be to simply copy all your descent folders onto a USB stick or burn them on a DVD or - well - back them up as you want.

If you want to download specific files - as in missions I'd recommend the site from your dear fellow Ryujin : http://descentvalhalla.com/

Click on the game version of your choice and select "Download" --> then "Missions".

You normally can't harm your installations / setups by adding missions - however: it does not make sense as long as you don't use / play / need them.

cheers!

I have backed up all my Descents on a USB stick as you said
I looked at a list of Missions found in the Ryujiin site. I'm not sure I would know what to do with it as far as adding it to one of my Descent games.
Is it complicated, intalling and adding?
What about Descent 4? Is that available and a viable addition for me?
There is so much to learn.
Thanks
Brad

D3 missions gotta be extracted to the "missions" subfolder in your D3 folder. You'll find some existing ".mn3" files in there.

For the D1 and D2 missions it would depend on the version you got running. In general you should be able to look at the extensions of the files inside the ZIP archives and extract them to the same place where files with the same extension already are. If you have got the versions from zico named "DXX-rebirth" there will be a subfolder for missions in the according directories.

Descent 4 has not been released or developed yet.

You're welcome!
