Hi pipsqueak,
I remember your friendly comments at DBB well when I turned away from that DBB board !
But your link seems to target exactly to // that DBB board //,
that board which allow to hunt down Player, Levels, Coder and Designers in a way I absolutly dislike,
it's a shame in my eyes what happend there and.., so I strongly believe, still happens there.
So I have to say: Thanks for the info pipsqueak, it's sure friendly thought by you,
but DDB doesn't exist for me anymore, it's not even worth to look into again, in my opinion.

Hey Atan, that was me looking for you. Diti pointed me over here to this thread.
I've been playing around with your version of D3Edit (03_3G version) for a little while now. I *really* like alot of the stuff you've done. You hit some of the items that I thought were badly needed (for example displaying light values on the texture select dialog). But more than that, some of the stuff such as the crosshatched objects in the ortho views are awesome and I doubt I would have ever thought of them.
Anyway I'd like to talk to you about getting the source checked into the master archive at Warpcore - making it "official" as it were. At some point I will may like to do more work on the editor and I would much rather build on the work you've done than have separate development paths. Regardless, I really do think your version should be part of the official code-base.
If you are interested please get in touch. I'd be happy to check the source into the CVS archive for you, otherwise Kevin Bentley is the person to talk to to get write access assuming he is still paying any attention. I haven't tried anything other than the 03_3G version so I don't know how stable your latest alpha is.

Hi Otherone.
I'm a little surprised by your comment 'making it "official" as it were'
I remember the time when *you* worked on D3Edit. You didn't want to give
away the source code you're actually working on even not for my personal
use. Of course I understood that it was your (unfinished) baby. At least
you inserted some of my suggestions but you haven't react on many of my
suggestions and questions.
When you offered your !!fantastic!! version for everybody, I took my
chance and made a version for my own use, started to insert
a lot of my ideas and it was never planed to make it puplic that time.
But some of my D3-Designer friends 'forced' me to do so, because they
found 'my version(s)' very useful.
In the meantime I did uncounted changes and enhancements which are still uncommented.
Up to now, I didn't finished to apply all the things I like to have inside D3Edit.
Some things in progress are still faulty and need to be debugged.
This is very time consuming as we all know, especially since I'm working on many other tasks as well.
I'm building Singleplayer-, Multiplayer Levels, doing Singleplayer
Scripting- coding new Anarchy-, Entropy-Mods, coding some new clutter.dll, D3 RobotAI, tools,
helping some friends building their levels and, besides I'm still developing D3Edit.
So I don't think it's time for sharing unfinished sources for now.
All work must be done first, including a full comment of changes I've done
and as you can imagine it'll take a lot more time until it's finished.
I won't publish the source code until all things I've in my mind
regarding D3Edit is done.
FYI I list most of the last new features below. This k-version is pretty
stable even if it's not finished now. If you are interessted to play around
with it, let me know.
@All
If anyone else would like to test it, let me know.
If there are any questions, suggests or feedbacks about the
A03-versions these should be done here at Descentforum.de because I don't
use DBB anymore.
I'll answer all questions if I'm able to, but please use the
SC-ToolbarButton first. As far as I know, no one did any tutorial for
the new features or the changed functions up to now,
so it may be a chance to ask here at Descentforum.de if any of the
A03-xx beta-testers will help out.
DwnUndr would be the right guy for this
He is reachable here at this forum too, so there's no need for searching him at DBB
Roadrunner, Fischlein, (LL)Dark, (LL)Diti, DigiJo and Floyd could be
asked too if they like to share their knowledge about the new features.
Roadrunner, Fischlein and Dark are talking German only,
but if they'll gonna make a german tutorial I'm pretty sure someone of this forum will
translate it. Diti, Digi and Floyd will answer your questions in English,
as well as DwnUndr

Maybe I was unclear with what I meant by making it "official" and if I gave any offense I apologize.
I don't want the source for my personal use at this time (although I may want to work on the editor at some time in the future). My point was that I think your source should be checked into the official CVS archive maintained by Kevin Bentley at warpcore.org, which is all I meant by making it "official". I have nothing to do with that site other than that I am one of the people who has been granted access to make changes by Kevin.
I do remember turning your request down before and I think you probably understand the reasons better now that D3Edit has become your baby. I wasn't asking for you to send me the source so that I can work on it at this time. I am only offering to check it into CVS for you if you are unable to get write access from Kevin. If you prefer to do it yourself that would be great - I just wanted to suggest that it should be done sometime so that *everyone* has access to the source.
I of course wouldn't want this done until you have a stable version that you are comfortable releasing. That was pretty much the way I worked although once the code was stable enough I would usually check it into CVS and release a new version at the same time.
Anyway, I hope you'll give it some thought.
