Hi,

I hope somebody can help me with this.

I have a problem to set up my joystick. The game always autodetects the Z axis which makes it impossible to customize the configuration. Is there a tool or any other way i can configure the game manually?

Any help appreciated!

heyas genfors,
welcome to the descentforum Smilie

hmm does your joystick have a throttle? throttles are not centered most times, so when you try to assign a axis to lets say pitch and turn, d3 sees the throttle not centered and thinks you have moved it to assign the axis.

center the throttle and then assign the other axis again.

i ve got the same problem with one of my axes.
the only way to configure the functions was to be faster than the axis. sounds difficult, and takes a few tries to be sucessfull.

hold the stick to the direction u want to configure before activating the "learning" for, lets say, heading. if u are lucky, the game first sees the x-axis before the z Smilie if not, give it another try.

I can only give you some general advice here (which should apply to your stick).
It seems that your Z axis reports an amplitude to the system.
Try to calibrate your stick first with Control Panel -> Game Controller.
But I'm sure that you did this allready...

With some luck you can assign i.e. the turn movement to X axis with these steps:
(while in d3 joystick/mouse screen for setup)
- grab your stick with one hand and press it to the left (or right) (the axis you wish to setup). Hold it there.
- click the "Turn" button (or whatever movement you want to assign)
- release the stick and let it go to the centered position
It should now "override" the Z axis, as the X amplitude is higher than the false Z amplitude. If the Z axis is still assigned, try again a few times.

If this all doesn't help, try (temporarily) a different joystick just for assigning the axes.

If you have none, send me your axes mappings you which to setup (along with your Player name), and I will create a player file for you with this setup.

calibrating is a think of the past!
this stick has an USB-connector right? And its the Saitek X45. I didnt found anything on X445.

i found an easier way to get the Z-axis handled. pull it right to the middle and it does not interfere while configing your profile.
is it pulled to max or min, it will interfere. so the middle will do fine Smilie

@munk:
pulling the plug of an USB-joystick and sticking it on again, is all you need to do for calibrating it if it is doing strange moves. in 3 years I had to do this 3 times!

looks kewl btw Smilie

I have heard from [RIP]Dingman that his X45 felt too small for his hand. How do you like your as far as how it feels in your hand?

I need to get a new stick and that one looks cool! I like the fact that it comes with more than one hat switch too. That is what I break first on all my sticks.
