AMD K7 = slot A??

hi ihr!
ist denn der slot A für K7 prozessoren?
hab heute meinen prozessor bekommen und der passt aber nicht mal annäherungsweise auf das mainboard. Traurig
der prozessor schaut aus wie ein normaler, zb 486 (weil ich da jetz auch grad einen zur hand hab Smilie )
aber in den slot geht das nei rein.
braucht man da noch so nen zusatz wo man den prozessor drauf steckt und das gebilde dann in den slot am mainboard?

òder hab ich am ende zwei inkompatible teile?
beim mainboard steht mal k7 mal slot A

so wird das mainboard beschrtieben: "Mainboard ATX - AMD K7 (Slot A) "
und so der prozessor: "AMD Athlon "Thunderbird" 850 MHz", "...Sockel A Prozessor. "

wie heißt das teil was mir da noch fehlt?

So weit ich mich nicht irre (ich bin kein AMD-Freak) ist:

Slot A nicht gleich Sockel A

und so weit ich weiss sind die unkompatibel. Man braucht ein Thunderbird-kompatibles MB und ein (min.) 300 Watt Netzteil um den Thunderbird laufen zu lassen.

Ja so isses, ein Slot ist ein Reihensteckplatz und ein Socket ist ein Sockel. Es gibt auch noch verschiedene Slots (Slot A, Slot B, Slot 0, Slot weissichwas) und Sockel (Socket 4, wie dein "487"), Socket 7, Socket A...

Allerdings frisst mein Athlon 1200 keine 300W. Oder sind die neuen Dinger jetzt besser?

das heißt, ich hab sch... gebaut. LOL
ich hab mal geschaut, die Slot A teile sind ja voll teuer und gar nicht so häufig wie die Sockel A CPUs
dann muss ich wohl erst mal weiterhin auf meiner alten Gurke rumgurken

hab da jetzt mal wind in die sache gebracht und 3 zusätzliche Fans eingebaut und dazu zig löcher in die front gebohrt

Nicht per Prozessor braucht 300 Watt. Aber das für den Thunderbird ein 300 Watt Netzteil "recommended" ist stimmt schon...

Ich meine: mein Kumpel hat früher sein Mofa mit Diesel betankt und die lief!

so jetzt gibts die genaue Info:
slot A ist älter als Sockel A.
AMD hatte das Intel gleich gemacht und auf slot umgestellt. Mittlerweile ist man wieder auf die sockel zurückgekommen, auch Intel.
Adapter wie bei Intel gibts für die AMDs auch nicht, also SocketA -> SlotA

Intel hatte die Slots für P2 und paar P3, hatte was mit dem L2 zu tun. Der konnte da mit auf die Prozessorkarte. Bei P1 und früher war der L2 aufm MB

socket A ist nur für AMDs, prozessoren können also nicht beliebeig geswitcht werden.
Intel verwendet socket 370 für P3s/celeron und für P4 socket 432 (?)
